ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Since 1993, Introduction Knoxville has offered everyone from newcomers to native Knoxvillians a fascinating insider’s look at our community. In 6 sessions, you will connect with 50 other professionals and civic-minded citizens you might not otherwise cross paths with in a lifetime. It’s all designed to give attendees a more complete view and understanding of Knoxville, along with a better sense of how to put leadership into action and become more civically engaged.

TIME COMMITMENT

Introduction Knoxville is 6 session days – once a week for 6 weeks meeting from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sessions are held in a variety of unique locations to acquaint class members with Knoxville’s assets. A wide range of top community leaders serve as guest speakers, as well as, a variety of tours and activities are featured to enhance the day. Session topics include history, education, business, entrepreneurship, regional vision & partnerships, quality of life, volunteerism, and arts & culture.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE

A typical class will have participants ranging from newcomers to long-time residents. Those retiring to the area can also benefit from this program to make meaningful civic connections and find opportunities for engagement with Knoxville volunteer opportunities. Anyone with enthusiasm to learn more about Knoxville and take a more active role as a citizen should participate in Introduction Knoxville.

REGISTRATION

Introduction Knoxville program tuition is $2000, which includes meals, parking, venues, speakers and materials. Often companies will fund tuition from continuing education or professional development budgets. Limited scholarships are available for those in the nonprofit sector based on need.

INTRODUCTION KNOXVILLE IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

 Introduction Knoxville graduates are invited to join the LK Alumni Association. As alumni members you will have further opportunities for on-going engagement to network and connect with community leaders from all Leadership Knoxville programs.
