10 Year Vision for Knoxville Continued growth in both the residential and commercial sectors, but ensuring the use of space is effective, strategic, and useful. The issues causing homelessness are addressed, solutions implemented, and we have an overall more productive and safe community. What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret? The endless activities and locally owned businesses throughout Downtown Knoxville. Whether it be charity events, concerts, festivals, theatres, rooftop bars, family friendly breweries, or fantastic restaurants, our city has it all! What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? A larger presence of law enforcement to reduce drug/violent crimes, ensure laws are followed, and to make sure our city is safe for everyone. Provide better communication channels to our community regarding the difference between enabling and helping our homeless population. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? The very snowy Christmas Eve 2020 in Downtown Knoxville. Being able to walk through the untouched sidewalks and streets admiring the beauty of the snow-covered city with Christmas lights everywhere was breathtaking! What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? Toxic Charity What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? To always believe in myself and that in the professional world a woman can do anything a man can. She probably doesn’t even realize what an inspiration she has been to me, but her name is Cecilia Peterson. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? The same things I tell my 17 year old son - that you have to find happiness within yourself and not rely on others to make you happy, to stay focused on school work as grades are so important for college admission, and that hard work always pays off.
