What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now? I envision a beautiful downtown full of cultural history. A city that embraces the many cultures of its population. What is Knoxville's best kept secret? The city’s beautiful hiking trails, Gay Street, Old City and Market Square Restaurants. What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? There is much to do to deal with the homeless and gun violence in the city. I would focus on getting the community involved to address these so that our city may continue to prosper. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? I have to say that I looked forward to Booms Day every year. The city really went all out for this event. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? I am a hopeless romantic, so right now I have a book called Siren. What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? "When I started my career with the Federal Government, I had a mentor that really focused on the importance of understanding policy. She said, whatever decision you make, always make sure you can defend it. Understanding policy will help you with that. Her name was Diane King and she was a Community Programs Specialist for USDA, Rural Development in Holden, MA." What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? Life is tough but you are tougher. Remember kindness and love will always get you through the hard times.
