10 Year Vision for Knoxville 10 years from now, I hope Knoxville is still a warm, welcoming place to live. To that end, I hope Knoxville will have made significant investments in accessibility improvements to make it warm and welcoming to all. I know the population will continue to grow, but I hope we will make it a priority to maintain green spaces for our community as well. What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret? I'm not sure any of these are much of a secret, but I'm all about green spaces and museums, so I have to say Knoxville's Urban Wilderness, World's Fair Park, Knoxville Botanical Gardens, Marble Springs, Knoxville Museum of Art, and McClung Museum. What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? Accessibility improvements to make Knoxville more livable for all (improve public transportation including places to sit while waiting, install more sidewalks, expand the greenway system, create more affordable housing and make grants available to make accessibility modifications to existing housing). What is your favorite Knoxville memory? My father passed away earlier this year, so for me right now my favorite Knoxville memories are my family memories of growing up in West Hills. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? I am currently reading The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish (historical fiction is my favorite genre). What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? From a professor: You won't have all the answers. Don't be afraid to tell a client (or anyone) that you don't know, but you will do some research and get back to them. Also, actually get back to them. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? That hemp necklace stinks and you should take it off. More seriously, you haven't found your place yet, but you will. You wouldn't have wanted it to be high school, anyway.
