10 Year Vision for Knoxville
I would love to see Knoxville to continue to grow the business community with a wide variety of employment opportunities. The current and future residents will continue to have a wide range with respect to their skill set. The ability to find meaningful employment, irrespective of the specific skillset, is important for all.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
How welcoming and friendly the people are! When I moved here 15 years ago, everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful - my neighbors, my co-workers, folks I encountered out and about. When I talk with newcomers, they comment on the warm welcoming.
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
Though I feel it sounds insignificant, the two things I see as most meaningful to contributing to strengthen Knoxville are: 1) make sure our boys grow up to be productive members of society, and 2) support my husband as he continues to have a thriving business that employs more than 100 individuals.
What is your favorite Knoxville memory?
The first UT football game I attended with my husband.
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
"Smoothie Project" - goal to find new versions for my breakfast smoothie.
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
Do not lose sight of the big picture. It is easy to get lost in the details - and they are important - but if you lose sight of the big picture, the details can become meaningless.
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Embrace negative people and experiences as learning opportunities. They are not enjoyable; however, if you can learn from them, you will become a stronger, more resilient individual.
