10 Year Vision for Knoxville I would like to see sustained and continued growth of businesses and community organizations that support and reflect the diversity of Knoxville. What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret? My husband and I enjoy going out to eat. I love that Knoxville has so many wonderful places to eat. If we wanted to, we could go out to eat every weekend and never visit the same place twice. What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? I would work to ensure that different perspectives are at the table when important decisions are being made. I would work collaboratively with stakeholders to address issues and encourage comprise to achieve desired results. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? My favorite memories of Knoxville are the times spent on the lake. I grew up on the beach and was afraid I’d miss it when I moved here. Instead, I now have the best of both worlds with the mountains and the lake. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? I listen to two or three books a month. My favorites is Where the Crawdads Sing. I’m currently listening to Something in the Water. What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? I have had several great mentors and it’s hard to just pick one. The best advice I have been given has taught me two important lessons. 1) You learn the most when you make a mistake. 2) Most of your growth and development happens when you push yourself beyond your comfort zone so don’t be afraid to do something you’ve never done before. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? There will be times when you will be challenged beyond your limits. Know that you are stronger than you think and will become a better person by over coming those challenges.
