What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret? Knoxville’s best kept secret is the educators at Vine Middle Magnet School. They are passionate, professional and student centered, and there is no better staff to work than this group of dedicated individuals. They change lives every day. What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? Help educate Knovillians about the power of poverty and how understanding how equity can help make our community stronger and more beneficial for all. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? Going to the TVA Valley Fair when I was younger. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? My favorite Book: Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston; night stand: Nuance by Michael Fullan What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? Betty Sue Sparks told me to consider my leadership and any difficulties as a calling “For such a time as this.” What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? I’d remind myself that the world wasn’t on my shoulders and that I still had time to grow up.
