What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now? A Knoxville that continues to grow, but remains true to its roots. Current and future leaders must leverage recreational infrastructure, economic opportunity, and diversity of thought to give back to our people and the environment. What is Knoxville's best kept secret? There are many, but I love food, so I consider it to be steamed sandwiches. From the Korner Market to Sam and Andy’s, there are so many great places to get a sandwich – steamed! What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? I have been impressed with the transformations in Downtown and South Knoxville. I would love to see this positive vision replicated in so many other Knoxville neighborhoods and landmarks. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? Likely a sour memory for many, I fondly recall being a kid during the Blizzard of 1993. Over a foot of snow meant sledding, building snow forts with neighbors, and no school! The city and my neighborhood looked magical. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? Currently reading: Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber – by Mike Isaac What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? I was living in New York City starting my career in business. My first mentor taught me the 80/20 rule – to prioritize 20% of what’s on your plate in order to produce 80% of the desired impact. Details can be incredibly important, but not if you are getting lost in the nuance. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? To enjoy yourself and to be kind to other people. Two things that are easy to forget at that age. Also, buy Apple stock.
