10 Year Vision for Knoxville A community that works, lives, and plays together. Continuing to build on the growth of downtown is important. I would love to see the various neighborhoods continue to have their own personalities and culture and for people to move amongst the various neighborhoods and not just stay in their own worlds. What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret? Knoxville has a wonderful system of greenways and parks. Most if not all of them are easily accessible and link to each other. What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? I would improve the "big picture" plan. I feel like growth and progress are great, but it can feel a bit disjointed at times. If there were some stronger voices or visions of how it "all" works together. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? The whole of 1998. It was my first year here as a student at UT. I fell in love with the campus first and then began discovering more and more of the town. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? Hero of Two Worlds - Maquis de Lafayette in the Age of Revolution What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? It was fairly industry specific, but Steve Hagood would talk about how lending was part art and part science and most things were not black and white. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? I don't know that 16 old me would listen, but I would tell him to enjoy the journey. It is just as if not more important than they end result.
