What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now? I want Knoxville to be a place where every kid from every neighborhood has access to every resource they need to achieve their full potential. I don't want "success" to be defined by "leaving." What is Knoxville's best kept secret? YOKE is certainly one of the best kept secrets, but we're working hard to change that. I'd say Johnson University is another. I lived in Knoxville for several years before I even heard of it. About 8 years ago I worked with a team to design their new website. I was so impressed I decided to pursue a master's degree there. What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? It starts with being a good neighbor. Loving your neighbor means wanting all the things for them that you want for yourself and your family - security, quality education, good jobs, healthcare. Outside of that I coach youth sports in my neighborhood and I'm collaborating on some projects to provide a sense of community, job training, and employment opportunities. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? Austin East winning the 2021 boys state soccer title. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? I currently have two on my nightstand - Prophetic Lament by Dr. Soong Chan Rah and Canoeing the Mountains by Tod Bolsinger. What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? Dr. Alex Miller asked "if you don't take your organization seriously, why should anyone else?" What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? Be confident in who you are, take advantage of every opportunity, and be nice to everyone.
