What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now? Ten years from now Knoxville will be a welcoming, vibrant, and safe community. Improved environmental sustainability will continue to be a top priority. Educational and cultural facilities will be abundant, and state of the art. Citizens will have access to affordable housing and great jobs. What is Knoxville's best kept secret? The Overlook at Lakeshore Park offers spectacular views of the park, the river, and the mountains. It opened during the first few months of the pandemic so many people don’t know about it. What would you do to strengthen Knoxville? I would look for ways to partner with other private and public entities to ensure that we continue to invest in and protect our natural resources. What is your favorite Knoxville memory? The summer of the World’s Fair provided us with incredible experiences and introduced us to many different cultures. What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand? Pat Conroy’s, The Prince of Tides is my favorite and Greenlight, by Matthew McConaughey, is up next to read. What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor? Always be an active listener, withholding judgement and advice. A dear friend who is a counselor. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self? Enjoy every minute of your education and the relationships you build during those years. Do what you love, and don’t make money the end goal.
