Diversity can be defined as counting heads, and inclusion as making the heads count. This definition is accurate, but also has an embedded problem. Inclusion is needed because someone or some group has been excluded. Diversity, however, should be seen as a tool for greatness and not just a social pacifier. Viewing diversity this way acknowledges that it isn’t just about race and gender, but also culture, perspective and age.
